Robbery, kidnapping case leads to overnight woods search, 2 arrests

VIDOR — Numerous Southeast Texas law enforcement agencies conducted a search overnight into the woods that eventually resulted in two arrests, with authorities linking the suspects to ongoing robbery and kidnapping investigations.

The Vidor Police Department dispatch center received information Saturday that Orange County Sheriff’s Office was in pursuit of a stolen vehicle on IH-10.

The vehicle exited the interstate and the pursuit was terminated when the subjects turned on Stanley from FM 1132. Stanley is a dead-end roadway. The two occupants fled the vehicle into the woods.

Officers searched the area but were unable to locate them. Neighbors were informed of the situation.

On Sunday at 07:20 a.m., officers received a call of two individuals that were asking directions to Beaumont. Upon arrival in the area both individuals began running. One suspect, Dylan Williams, 2,0 of Ville Platte was taken into custody after a short foot pursuit.

During the frisk of this subject, a pistol was found on him. Officers began searching the area for the second subject.

At approximately 8:20 a.m., a citizen flagged down an officer about an individual that came out of the woods and ran back into the woods, which he thought was suspicious. Officers located this individual hiding in the brush. Upon approaching the suspect, he began running from officers. The subject was located hiding under a mobile home on Craig Street by Beaumont K-9.

The Vidor Police Department would like to thank the citizens for their assistance as well as Orange County Sheriff’s Office, Texas DPS and Beaumont Police Department for their teamwork in apprehending these suspects.

This case is still under investigation by the Ville Platte Police Department.

The subjects were charged with evading arrest by the Vidor Police Department.

The Ville Platte Police Department has obtained a warrant for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. The robbery and kidnapping involving this vehicle is still under investigation by the Ville Platte Police Department.
