CENTER — Marcus Morris completed 12 of 19 passes for 180 yards, but Hanshire-Fannett came up short in coach Mark Waggoner’s debut with the Longhorns as Hughes Springs won 16-13.

Hughes Springs, based in northeast Texas, outrushed Hamshire-Fannett 219 yards to 115, but the Longhorns hung tough. The H-F defense held the Mustangs to 20 passing yards.

H-F did lose one of two fumbles and committed six penalties for 35 yards.
