Abraham Lincoln gearing up for state robotics competition

Abraham Lincoln Fine Arts Academy’s Team 2 is gearing up for a major statewide robotics competition on Saturday, school officials are sharing.

“Team 2 has valiantly secured a spot in the GEAR Championship April 20, setting the stage for an exhilarating challenge against the top contenders from the other GEAR leagues across the state of Texas,” teacher Cynthia Quejado said.

“We’re bursting with pride and excitement as we celebrate the phenomenal performance of our Abraham Lincoln Fine Arts Academy Robotics Teams at this year’s Texas Tech GEAR (Get Excited About Robotics) competition-Lubbock League.”

Quejado said Team 1 and Team 2 recently performed in a qualifying event, competing against 62 teams at Lubbock High School.

“Our teams not only showcased their skills but also dominated the podium with their incredible achievements,” she said.

Team 1 Highlights:

  • third place in the robotics tournament
  • second place in the young engineers award

Team 2 Highlights:

  • second place in the robotics tournament
  • first place in the young engineers award
  • judges’ choice award

“Let’s rally behind our ALFAA Robotics teams as they prepare for the championship, ready to bring their best to the arena once again,” Quejado said. “Here’s to hoping for continued success and innovation from our emerging engineers. Their hard work, creativity, and dedication are truly inspiring.”
