Preliminary reports said a 2007 Freightliner truck tractor semi-trailer was traveling eastbound on Interstate 10 when a pedestrian crossed the westbound traffic lanes of the Interstate and attempted to cross the eastbound traffic lanes. She was struck by the commercial motor vehicle.

The driver, a 64-year-old Houston man, was not injured in the crash.

Justice of the Peace Rodney Price pronounced the pedestrian, described only as a black female, dead at the scene.

DPS Troopers were working late Thursday morning to identify the deceased woman and need the public’s help. If anyone has information that may help Troopers identify this victim, they are asked to contact the DPS Communications Office at 936-699-7340. Telephone lines are answered 24 hours a day.
