PNG’s Johnson makes SI issue

The country now knows about Port Neches-Groves quarterback Roschon Johnson.

The sophomore was listed among Sports Illustrated’s “Faces in the Crowd” in this week’s issue. Johnson was honored for rushing for 246 yards on 32 carries and six touchdowns in a 41-21 win over Nederland in the Bum Phillips Bowl on Nov. 4. The magazine also noted that Johnson threw for 2,358 yards and 29 touchdowns and ran for 1,620 yards and 28 touchdowns.

Johnson was named District 22-5A MVP after leading the Indians to a share of the district title and their first regional semifinal in the Class 5A playoffs since 2010.
