Basil Charles Smith, Jr., 83, of Port Neches, Texas passed away Sunday, December 11, 2016 at Cypress Glen in Port Arthur, Texas.

Basil was born November 10, 1933 in Savannah, Georgia to Basil Charles Smith, Sr. and Virginia Wiggins Smith. He was a resident of Port Neches for forty-two years and retired from Neches Butane with 35 years of service as a Carpenter. Basil was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church and Port Neches Knights of Columbus #2461. He was also a US Army Veteran serving during the Korean War.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, December 15, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church with Reverend Shane Baxter officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 14, 2016 with a Rosary to begin at 6:00 p.m. at Levingston Funeral Home in Port Neches.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Mary H. Smith of Port Neches, Texas; daughter, Philippa Smith of Houston, Texas; sons, Anton Smith of Port Neches, Texas; Albert Smith and wife Jennifer of Groves, Texas; Basil C. Smith III and wife Nikki of Port Neches, Texas; sister, Barbara Hilal of Savannah, Georgia; grandchildren, Jacob, Jonah, Emily, Caleb, Jamie, Jordan, Johna, and Jessica Smith and numerous nieces and nephews.
