Duriso added, as far as he knows, the man is not on life support as was previously reported to the news media.

Detectives are working to piece together the sequence of events that led to the early morning shooting Sunday in the 700 block of Procter Street. Duriso said, per video, there was not a large gathering when the shooting occurred.

Police anticipate making an arrest at some point and presenting the case to the DA’s office.

Port Arthur police responded at approximately 3 a.m. to Procter Street, where a shooting occurred.

The area is less than a block from the police station parking lot.

Robert Scott, 23, of Groves was fatally wounded and died at CHRISTUS Southeast Texas – St. Elizabeth in Beaumont, Justice of the Peace Ben Collins Sr. said.

An autopsy has been ordered.

Two other people were injured, one critically and one in stable condition.

The current medical condition of the two men is not known as of Thursday afternoon.

This marks the first homicide of the year in the city.

This is the second time in less than a year that gun violence occurred in the 700 block of Procter Street.

Upwards of 400 people were in that area in July when a disturbance occurred and five people were injured, one critically, police reported.
