Braden Bailey rolled in seven birdies Wednesday on the way to a 4-under-par 68 that left him outright second at 138 after 36 holes in the All Pro Tour Southside Bank Open at Crown Colony in Lufkin.

Bailey, who opened with a 70, was two shots back of leader Sam Stephens of Fort Worth. Stephens shot his second consecutive 68 and stands at 136. Lamar University ex MJ Daffue, the first-day leader, was another stroke back after shooting 72 for 139.

Bailey, after finishing tied for third in his first APT start last week, was positioned to go low after making four birdies in his first 10 holes.

A double bogey on 11 blunted the momentum of the Port Neches-Groves ex, but he rebounded with birdies at 12, 13 and 16.

Only 16 out of 80 players in the field were under par. The cut fell at two-over 146.

On the line for Bailey, a recent Baylor graduate, is a first place check of $20,000.
