After 48 years of bowling, a young 70-year-old Alice Barnes had the finest hour of her career.

Bowling in the competitive Thursday night Energy Country Ford/Allstate League, Alice dominated lanes 19 and 20. Bowling in her middle game, Alice was able to kick out the two pin for her 12th consecutive strike and first-ever perfect game. Alice put games of 202 and 212 around that 300 for her second career 700, a 714.

Also bowling in the Energy Country Ford/Allstate league, Belinda Powell shot games of 257, 257 and 204 for a 718 set to lead all the women bowlers this week.

Now Alice and Belinda have thrown down the gauntlet for the female young guns for the upcoming Women’s City Championships this weekend. Congrats to Alice and Belinda.

Monday Night’s Valero League had the top senior male bowler and the top bowler of the week all wrapped into one this week. The Chief, C.J. Moity, unleashed games of 234, 246 and 276 for a sweet 756 series. C.J. himself is setting the tone for this weekend’s Open championships.

Finally the Saturday morning Stars of Tomorrow ripped up the lanes this past weekend. Cain Shaw led the way as he torched the lanes with games of 248, 228 and 201 for a 677 set. Brandon Bertrand was hot on his heels as he cranked out games off 221, 211 and 218 for a 650 series. Randall Bradford was strong in the mix as he stroked games of 210, 249 and 176 for a 635 series.

Lots of good scores this past week sets the tone for the Women’s City Championships and the Open Championships being held this weekend and next weekend.

Once again, congrats the Alice Barnes who just proved good things come to those who continue to do what that love to do … bowl.
