PA’s KENNERSON NAMED SWAC PLAYER OF WEEK

Texas Southern sophomore guard Joyce Kennerson of Port Arthur received the Southwestern Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week honor, the conference announced Tuesday.
Kennerson, a 2015 Memorial graduate, had 24 points and three rebounds Monday in a 57-53 win at Alcorn State. It was Texas Southern’s first conference game. Kennerson came within one point of her career high but set a season high in the victory. Her 13.7 points per game ranks seventh in the SWAC.
Texas Southern has now won three Player of the Week honors in the SWAC. Artavia Ford won the other two.
