CYPRESS — Port Arthur Memorial got 19 points from Thailan Wesley and 10 from Bishop James in taking a 50-44 victory over Cypress Woods in a consolation round game of the Houston Methodist Cy-Hoops Festival.

Memorial (8-3) led after each period, expanding an 11-7 lead to make it 25-17 by halftime. Cy-Woods stayed within striking distance through three, but was down 38-31.

Pasadena FBCA 58, Sabine Pass 46

BAYTOWN — Sabine Pass raced out to an early lead, but Pasadena First Baptist Christian Academy turned things around with a 23-7 third quarter and marched to a 12-point win in the Baytown Christian Bulldog Classic.

Sabine Pass led 23-14 after one period and 31-25 at halftime, but FBCA warmed up in the third shooting 53 percent from the floor.

The defeat overshadowed a 20-point by Daniel Sam and 14-point showing by Dominique Wilson. The Sharks will play at 10:30 a.m. today for seventh place.

Also: Galveston O’Connell defeated Bob Hope in the High Island tournament, but no score or statistics were available.

Sabine Pass 29, Baytown Christian 28

BAYTOWN — Sabine Pass advanced to the championship game of the Baytown Christian Bulldog Classic after edging the tournament host Friday.

No statistics were available. The Sharks (5-2) will play for the championship at 6 tonight.
