JANICE TODORA ON BOWLING: Russell Hebert, gone but not forgotten

Janice Todora
The local bowling world lost one of its favorite and very likeable bowlers in Russell Hebert. Russell lost his battle with cancer late Sunday evening on March 20th. Russell leaves behind two daughters, Amy and Angie as well as a host of relatives. Russell bowled for over 45 years and was member of various bowling associations which included Orange Bowl, Port Arthur Bowl, Park Central (The Max) and Crossroads.
In the eyes of longtime friend Skipper Arsenault, “He was a great bowler but above all else a wonderful friend to all. He had a one of a kind personality that would light up a room. He will be greatly missed”.
Courtesy of bowl.com, here are some stats on Russell dating back to 2001. Russell averaged 212, shot ten (10) 300 games and two (2) 800 series. Russell you will be missed by all. Rest in peace my friend.
Now for a bit of the weekly stuff, come on it won’t hurt…
Golden Oldies, Rick Hermsen, led the senior men this week with games of 241 227 257 for a nice 725 set. Monday night’s Valero League had Alice Barnes shooting high enough to lead all the senior women. Alice shot games of 227 172 232 for a 631 series. Thursday night’s Energy Country Ford League had the high man, high women and an honor score shot. Sami Jo Williams led all the women with games 201 215 238 for a sweet 654 series. Chuck Mitchell led the men this week shooting games of 236 257 269for a hugh 762 series. Congratulations are in order for Derek Williams. Derek fired another 300 Thursday night as well as capturing the Men’s City Championships this past weekend.
