The Men’s City Championship opened up this weekend with action taking place at Star Bowl and Crosswords in Beaumont.
Up next on the tournament circuit will be the Knights of Columbus State Championships. That tournament will take place in April at Max Bowl.
Also kicking off in April will be the Women’s State Championships in New Braunfels and San Marcos. The men will hold their state championships in Dallas. As this column gets reports of honor games, it shall be reported.
Now on to the local bowling action this week:
A couple of new (old) names showing up this week. These bowlers have been around for a bit, and it’s good to still see them at the top of their game. Wednesday night Fun Bowler James Pitre led all the senior men this week. James shot games of 279-203-250 for a nice 732 series.
Thursday night’s Energy Country Ford League had the top senior female bowler. Karen Bellow cranked out games of 177-235-233 for a very impressive 645 series.
Monday night’s Valero League had the top female bowler of the week. Sami Jo Williams lined up her shot to the tune of 192-268-266 for a sweet 726 series.
The highlight of the week comes from the Thursday night Energy Country Ford League, as Eric Manthei shot lights out. Eric nailed all 12 shots in his second game for a perfect 300. Eric shot that game in between games of 259 and 249 for a monster 808 set.
This columnist is going to ask that prayers be sent to long time area bowler Russell Hebert. Russell is struggling with health issues that are very challenging.
