JANICE TODORA ON BOWLING: Hermsen records his 300

Published 8:38 pm Monday, February 29, 2016

Last week, we failed to report the top senior male bowler of the week. That honor goes to Bob Cullums, who fired games of 279-244-217 for a 740 series.

Now on to this week’s business: Golden Oldies had the lead female senior bowlers of the week. Gloria Divello led the ladies by firing games of 199-213-232 for a nice 644 set. Meanwhile Rick Hermsen pocketed his 12 shots in his second game for a perfect 300. That game was sandwiched by games of 249 and 191 for a sweet 740 series.

Thursday night’s Energy Country Ford League provided a lot of excitement. First Bill White led all the senior men by shooting games of 266-256-225 for a 742 series. RaeAnna Todora nailed games of 215-270-257 for a 742 set, to lead all the women bowlers this week.

Finally on Thursday night, Jamie Engle continued to own the lanes as he hammered games of 270-267-268 for a massive 805 series. Saturday’s Stars of Tomorrow had Brandon Bertrand firing games of 203-184-163 to lead all the youth bowlers with a 500 set.

At the time this column was being written, the Women’s City Championship were in progress. Next week we will have the results.
