The Savannah Avenue water main break that led to Sunday’s boil water notice has been repaired.

City crews will continue flushing hydrants in the affected area and testing the water, which can take 24 to 48 hours.

The boil water advisory affects Port Arthur residents who reside in the area of Hwy 73 to 4^th Street, between Hwy 82 and Taft Ave. This includes the West side of Port Arthur and Sabine Pass to the East side of Port Arthur, to Hwy 366. Residents of the affected area are advised to follow the tips below during this time:

• Flush faucets and drinking fountains for at least 3 minutes or until discoloration (if present) in the water is gone.
  • Boil water for two minutes or use bottled water for drinking, cooking, and brushing teeth. Let water cool before use.
  • Wash hands with waterless sanitizer or wash hands vigorously with soap for at least 20 seconds.
  • Empty refrigerator ice trays and run three cycles of ice to clear refrigerator water lines.
  • Use hot water washing and hot air drying for dish washer use.
  • Use bottled water or boiled water for hand washing dishes. Tap water can be used if dishes are rinsed for at least 1 minute in a solution of 1 tablespoon of bleach to one gallon of tap water.
  • Bathe or shower but do not drink the water.
  • Wash clothes using normal procedures.

The Boil Water Advisory is expected to be lifted Thursday, November 12^.

The City is notifying customers of service outages through the Southeast Texas Alerting Network (STAN). Residents who are not currently in the system can register online at www.TheStan.com.
