Mid- and South County went 3-0 Friday night.

Now, Port Arthur Memorial, Nederland and Port Neches-Groves will all play in the Houston area this coming Friday night for the area round of the UIL’s 5A football playoffs.

In 5A Division I, Memorial (8-1), the District 22-5A co-champion, will take on Galveston Ball (6-4) at 4 p.m. Friday at Challenger Columbia Stadium, 1955 W. NASA Blvd. in Webster. Memorial, the District 22-5A co-champion, is coming off a 41-7 win over Kingwood Park in Porter. Ball was a 22-17 winner over Houston Austin.

Memorial is designated as the visiting team.

Advance tickets for Memorial-Ball will be sold from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday through Wednesday only at the Memorial Stadium ticket office. They are $7 each for adults and $5 for students. Tickets at the gate are $10 each.

The winner of that game will take on either Temple or Magnolia West in the Region III semifinals.

For the second time in three weeks, Nederland and Port Neches-Groves will share the same stadium … sort of.

Nederland (8-2) took a 35-3 win over Porter and will meet Manvel (10-0) at 4 p.m. Friday at NRG Stadium in Houston, for another 5A Division I playoff. The winner of that game will take on Cedar Park or Ennis.

That game will open a doubleheader in the Houston Texans’ home. PNG (9-1) and Texas City (5-5) will play the 8 p.m. nightcap in a 5A Division II clash for the right play either College Station or Georgetown.

Both PNG and Nederland are considered home teams, but it is not immediately known where fans will sit.

Advance ticket prices for both games are $11 for adults and $6 for students. At the gate, tickets are $15 apiece.

Children 2 and under do not need a ticket.

Nederland will sell advance tickets from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday and 2-6 p.m. Wednesday at Nederland High School. PNG will sell tickets from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday at the Indian Stadium ticket booth, and from 9-10 a.m. Thursday on the PNG track during the Indians’ Thanksgiving Day practice.

Manvel was a 49-6 winner over Houston Madison on Thursday. Texas City beat Houston Waltrip 24-14 Thursday.
