Big trout highlight 41st annual SALT Tourney
By Chester Moore, Jr.

Last weekend’s annual SALT tournament was a great success with strong catches.
In fact, the speckled trout division alone featured some of the best catches I have seen in 18 years of covering the tournament.
The last two years have been banner ones for trout fishing and this year’s SALT event shows us the Sabine system is still red hot for trout and is also producing solid flounder and redfish.
People from all over Texas and Louisiana are coming to Sabine to fish and although I have seen at different times better individual fisheries, never have I seen all of them so strong.
It is a good time to live and fish in Southeast Texas.
