Lamar, Baylor to air on Fox Sports Net

BEAUMONT – The Lamar Cardinals game at Baylor on Saturday, Sept. 12th will be televised on FOX Sports Net (FSN). The game is also slated to kickoff at 6:30 p.m. from McLane Stadium. It will be the second time in the past three years Lamar will face a Big 12 school on the gridiron.
It marks the first time Lamar has played on FSN since traveling to Stillwater, Okla., to face Oklahoma State during the 2013 season. The
announcement of Lamar’s televised game in Waco comes ahead of the Southland Conference’s 2015 television package which is scheduled to be released later this month.
Lamar’s trip to Baylor is one of only two non-conference games on the upcoming schedule, and will open a three-game road swing for the Cardinals that will also see LU travel to 2014 playoff participants Sam Houston State and Southeastern Louisiana.
Lamar played in three televised games last season posting a 1-1 record against FCS opponents. The Cardinals also faced Texas A&M on the newly formed SEC Network in front of more than 104,000 fans – the largest crowd to watch a collegiate football game in Texas history. The Cardinals are 7-15 (.318) in televised games since bringing back the program for the start of the 2013 season.
The Cardinals are coming off not only their best season since the program was brought back to campus, but one of the best seasons in school history. Lamar tied a school record for wins in a season (as a four-year institution) and Southland Conference wins, while finishing tied for third in league play.
Lamar returns 20 starters, and 47 letterwinners from last year’s squad, to go along with one of the strongest recruiting classes in program history.
Senior receiver Reggie Begelton enters his final season on pace to graduate as the school’s all-time leaders in receptions, receiving yards and
touchdown catches. LU’s defense will be anchored by juniors Omar Tebo (defensive tackle) and Xavier Bethany (safety) both of whom are coming off All-Southland Conference campaigns in 2014.
The Cardinals kick off the 2015 season Saturday. Sept. 5 against Bacone College. The game against Bacone will kick off at 7 p.m. from Provost Umphrey Stadium.
