Weather permitting, highway contractors will begin working a stretch of Interstate 10 at night to keep from interfering with heavy daytime traffic.  The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) says crews will work the section of I-10 between Womack Road and Adams Bayou in Orange County.

Beginning Tuesday evening (July 6) workers will set up lane closures to strip and set concrete barriers along a three-mile stretch of the interstate. Work will begin at 8 p.m. and last until 6 a.m.

• On Tuesday evening, workers will have alternating lane closures in the east and westbound lanes of the interstate.

• Wednesday night’s closure involves closing the eastbound left lane.

All work will take place at night due to heavy daytime traffic. TxDOT is reminding motorists to pay attention in the work zone and to watch for workers and stopped vehicles.

The work is part of a $38 million project to rebuild the interstate between Womack Road and Adams Bayou. Williams Brothers is the project contractor. Work is expected to be complete in later 2013.
