Two Beaumont men were arrested for the armed robbery of a bicycle rider.

The suspects are identified as Delester Brister, 20, and Desmond Richard, 17.

About 1:05 p.m. Wednesday, a person was riding a bicycle on Crocket Street and Avenue C when he had to wait for a train to pass. While he was waiting, another subject rode up behind him on a bicycle and brandished a pistol while demanding the victim’s money. The victim gave the suspect all his money, but the suspect still demanded more, police said. The suspect fired one shot from a semi-automatic pistol in the general direction of the victim again demanding all of his money. The victim again stated he had no other money so the suspect fled the area.

Police were initially unable to locate the suspect, but within hours of the incident the victim observed the suspect who had just hours before robbed him. Police responded to 310 ML King Pkwy and detained two subjects.

Brister was arrested for a warrant — possession of a controlled substance and for violation of unlawful carrying weapons. Richard was arrested for city of Beaumont warrants. Both men were booked into the Jefferson County Jail.

Investigation into this incident continues at this time.
