Austyn Guidry, 8, is $100 richer, and she has her paw-paw to thank.

The Highland Park Elementary student turns 9 in July but collected an early birthday present this week when she won The Port Arthur News Color for Cash contest.

Guidry said her grandfather is a regular reader of The News and brought her the coloring contest to fill out during the recent downtime from school.

Guidry picked up her winnings this week, saying she would spend some on herself and donate some to a Women & Children’s Shelter in Beaumont.

The second-place winner Cheryl Petry of Port Arthur. She picked up $50 this week, as well.
