It was another good week on the PGA Tour for Andrew Landry, even better than a tie for 37^th might indicate. Because Tiger Woods’ Genesis Invitational was granted what the tour calls “elevated status,” the purse was bigger than in a normal week.

That made Landry’s T37 worth $41,385. His rounds of 68-72-70-73 were good enough on rugged Riviera to beat the likes of Brooks Kopeka, Tony Finau, Patrick Reed, Justin Rose, Jordan Spieth and Tiger. Not a bad week for a kid from the Pea Patch . . .

Chris Stroud, meanwhile, continued to struggle, missing his sixth consecutive cut on rounds of 71-74. Rather than tee it up in this week’s Puerto Rico Open being played opposite the WGC Invitational in Mexico City, he’s returned to Houston to work on his game . . .

Braden Bailey, who is stuck in pro golf limbo, appeared to get caught with his competitive rust showing on Monday. Bailey, playing in a qualifier for Puerto Rico in Miami, shot a one-over-par 73. It took a 66 to earn one of the four spots up for grabs . . .

In the Monday Senior 50 Plus 2 ball at Babe Zaharias, the team of Gary Fontenot, Rufus Reyes, Ron Mistrot and Dan Flood won the front with minus 3. On the back, the team of Ron LaSalle, Joe Gongora, Jeff Rinehart and James Trahan placed first at minus 4 . . .

The Saturday Super Senior 2 ball at Zaharias saw the team of Kenny Robbins, John Jessen, Larry Stansbury and Randy Trahan take the front with plus 1. Minus 1 won the back for Craig Geoffroy, Rusty Hicks, Dwayne Benoit and Keith Marshall.
