You were definitely seeing red Friday if you happened to pass through a CHRISTUS Southeast Texas Health System facility.

Physicians, nurses and other associates were encouraged to wear red for women’s heart health.

Friday (Feb. 7) was National Wear Red Day, which is part of the American Heart Association’s “Go Red for Women” campaign.

The team at St. Mary Outpatient Center Mid County on Ninth Avenue in Port Arthur joined in on the fun.

Loretta Chretien said her red shirt was more than a fashion statement.

Chretien shared that she suffered a heart failure while pregnant 25 years ago and has since recovered, even kicking the need for medication she was initially told she would have to take the rest of her life.

“Go Red for Women” is designed to increase women’s heart health awareness and

serve as a catalyst for change to improve the lives of women around the world.

“Wearing red serves as a bold, vibrant, visual reminder that it is on each and every one of us to improve women’s heart health,” says Paul Trevino, President and CEO of CHRISTUS Southeast Texas Health System.
