TJMS students earn high rankings in Region X Vocal Solo & Ensemble

VIDOR — Fourteen Thomas Jefferson Middle School students represented the Port Arthur ISD at the Region X UIL Vocal Solo & Ensemble Contest Saturday at Vidor Junior High School.

Under the direction of Lynne Wittung, six students received a Superior (I) ranking and eight students received an Excellent (II) ranking. All of these students sing in the Grade 3 solo class.

The students who earned a Superior ranking, with the grade level, title of solo for each:

  • Naomi Dugas, seventh, “Scarborough Fair”
  • Jamiling Vela Cruz, eighth, “Scarborough Fair”
  • Chi Truong, seventh, “Shenandoah”
  • Dylan Nguyen, seventh, “Shenandoah”
  • Josue Torres, eighth, “Shenandoah”
  • Ariya Gillespee, eighth, “To the Sky”
