KATHIE’S KORNER — Never lose your peace

Peace: Freedom from disturbance, no war or war has ended, a greeting, be silent and still.

These are some worldly definitions of peace. However, if you would like to have a peace that will fill your heart and be so powerful never to leave you, God will give you that peace and only God!

“Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you.” — John 14:27 ESV

Remember last week’s column about never losing your joy? Well, Philippians 4 says to “rejoice in the Lord, always, not to worry, but pray, ending with Verse 7 –“and the peace of God, which passes all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”

The great thing about the peace of God is that people, situations, bad dreams or reports, are not able to take that peace away, and we must be “stubborn” to not ever let it go! There are so many wonderful scriptures that promise us His peace, an eternal treasure … In Isaiah 53:5 says, “… upon Him was the chastisement (the cross) that brought us peace” and Isaiah 54:10 says, “… and My covenant of peace shall not be removed.”

Again, I point out how deep in our hearts and secure that peace should be and NOT easily disturbed or let go. God gave it to us, no man can take it away. Just ask Him.

My personal favorite peace scripture is in Proverbs 12:20 ESV: “… those who plan peace have joy.” Did you know you can plan for peace? I endeavor to do that every day. If you think about it, you plan so many things, daily, weekly, holidays, vacations and on and on, why not plan for peace too?! All these plans will go much smoother for you. Relationships, starting at home, church, the workplace and even errands however random or obscure they may seem, it all affects you and are most times determined by your attitudes!

So, you should NEVER lose your peace. Have a wonderful, joyful, peaceful Christmas and 2020, and come visit me at Church on the Rock at 10:30 Sunday mornings and 7 p.m. Wednesday, where Twin City and U.S. Highway 69 meet. Also, our Christmas Music can be heard on Nimbit (search Mike and Kathie).
