Dorothy Helen Rogers, 100, passed away on Friday, December 6, 2019 at the home of her loving daughter and son-in-law, Christie and Ric Toher.

Dorothy was born on December 27, 1918 in Berwick, Louisiana to Joseph and Philomene Ayo.

She lived in Port Arthur for 96 years and was a member of St. James Catholic Church.

She was active at St. James as a member of the Altar Society and was a frequent member of the Bereavement Committee.

For her many years of devotion to the Church community, she was recognized by the Bishops office and given a
special service award.

Dorothy was a generous contributor to the Hospitality Center in Port Arthur and found great joy in cooking and sharing food with those less fortunate than herself.

Dorothy was a loving person who will be dearly missed by family and friends alike.

Dorothy married James W. Rogers on January 25, 1942, and were blessed with four children and four grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her three sisters, two brothers, her husband James and her son Daniel.

She is survived by her daughters Diana Glass and husband, Ed and Christie Rogers Toher and husband, Ric, her son James Rogers and wife, Mary, and her grandchildren; John, Jennifer, Dianna and James.

Visitation will be on Thursday, December 12, 2019 from 9:30 AM till 10:30 AM with a rosary to be prayed at 10:30 AM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves.

Service to honor Dorothy’s life will be at 11:00 AM Thursday, December 12, 2019 in the Thompson Memorial Chapel at Clayton Thompson with Rev. David Edwards.

Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
