Sheriff’s deputy in critical condition with self-inflicted gunshot wound, police say

A Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputy is in critical condition at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont after what officials said is a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The shooting occurred early Sunday morning in the 7900 block of Twin City Highway near Ancelet’s Market in Port Arthur, according to Port Arthur Police Chief Tim Duriso.

Police are also looking for surveillance video in the area to help with the investigation, Duriso said.
