NEDERLAND — A Nederland man led police on a short chase while driving on three tires, ending at a mobile home park.

Police said the chase began after 6 p.m. Tuesday as a victim was leaving Sky Bar & Lounge in the 200 block of North U.S. 69 in Nederland.

As he attempted to back out he heard a sound like something dragging on his vehicle, stopped and saw someone next to him who appeared to be changing a tire.

Nederland Police Chief Gary Porter said the victim realized there was a tire against his tire.

“When police get out there, they see the suspect trying to leave the parking lot on three tires and had to chase him around town,” Porter said. “He ended up fleeing to a trailer park at 3707 Avenue H.”

The chase did not reach high speeds, the police chief said, and the suspect was arrested and taken to custody.

The 35-year-old man, identified through the Jefferson County Jail Roster as Daniel Darbonne, is charged with evading detention with a motor vehicle and bond is set at $5,000.
