Donald Kenneth Laughlin, 91, of Nederland, died Wednesday, October 30, 2019 at his home.

He was born on November 29, 1927 in DeRidder, LA to Allen Ferguson Laughlin, Sr. and Mary Ory Foote Laughlin.

He graduated from St. James High School in Port Arthur, received an Associates Degree from Lamar University, and went on to receive a Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy from the University of Texas at Austin.

Don was employed by Walgreens for 25 years, 14 years as a pharmacist.

In 1968 he and Christine purchased their own pharmacy, Union Drug, Inc. in Port Arthur which he operated for 30 years.

After 55 years of dedicated employment, he retired and was able to enjoy spending time with his wife and grandchildren.

His world revolved around his grandchildren and all of their activities.

He was an avid reader and loved to travel.

Don is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 51 years, J. Christine Laughlin; his daughter, Donna Laughlin Montalbano and her husband, Roy; his son, Jim Laughlin and his wife, Jennifer; his step-daughter, Darlene Dunn; his sisters, Elaine Laughlin-Rials and
Patricia Laughlin-Byous; his grandchildren, Morgan and Donalyn Bily, Isabella Montalbano, Blake and Brylie Laughlin, and Chad Duffey and his wife, Patricia; his great-grandchild, Pia Duffey; and many nieces and nephews, in-laws, and friends that loved him dearly.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and his siblings, Allen Ferguson Laughlin Jr., Joan Laughlin-Benchoff, Carolyn Rita Laughlin-Lang, and John Young Laughlin.

A gathering of family and friends will be at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland on Friday, November 1, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 2, 2019 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Nederland with Father John Hughes celebrant. Interment will follow at Liberty Hill Cemetery in Frankston, Texas.
