Fredrick Reeder

Fredrick Reeder was born on January 16, 1951, in Port Arthur, Texas. He was the fourth child of eight born to the late Ruth Alexander Reeder and Frank Reeder, Sr. He has been a resident of Houston, TX since 1986.  Fredrick transitioned peacefully in the comfort of his home on March 30, 2019.

Fredrick was a former member of Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church where he accepted Christ and was baptized under the leadership of Pastor Randy Vaughn, Sr.  Upon moving to Houston he joined The Church Without Walls under the leadership of Pastor Ralph Douglas West where he has been a member for over 20 years.

Fredrick received his public school education in PAISD and was a graduate of the Lincoln High School Class of 1969, where he formed lifelong relationships and friends.  He excelled in sports while at Lincoln and received an athletic scholarship to Doane College in Crete, Nebraska where he majored in sociology.  In 2010 Fredrick was among some very special athletes from Port Arthur Lincoln recognized by Doane College and inducted into the Athlete Hall of Fame for Undefeated Football Teams of the 60s.

Fredrick led a productive career in the oil and gas field.  He had thirty plus years of hands on industrial experience and expertise in petrochemical industry.  Professional strengths include coordination of vendor training for construction/maintenance crafts, technical writing and support, as well as process operation personnel.  Fredrick worked for several major engineering/construction and production companies i.e., Texaco, Shell Oil, Kellogg, Stone & Webster, Pritchard, and Chevron in the United States, Europe, Middle East, Indonesian and Caribbean Islands.  He loved his work and the world travel that it afforded him and his family.

Fredrick was preceded in death by his parents Ruth Alexander Reeder and Frank Reeder, Sr. his brothers Frank Reeder, Jr., Jonathan Reeder and Lynn P. Reeder.

He leaves to cherish his loving and devoted wife of 34 years, Patricia James Reeder; his two sons Kenrick Reeder (Nicole) of Dallas, TX, Rodrick Reeder of Dallas, TX;  his four siblings: sister, Sheila Ceasar of Houston, TX; brothers, James L. Reeder (Elizabeth) of Port Arthur, TX; Glenn D. Reeder of Houston, TX; Charles P. Reeder of Dallas, TX;  his niece/daughter – Lillian Renee Gallow of Houston, TX; nephew/son, Chad Rashad Sampson (Dominque) of Houston, TX; Sister-in-law, Vanessa Sampson Dorsey, Houston, TX Brother-in-laws: Don Reginald James of Port Arthur, Ronnie James of Carbondale, Illinois, John James of Port Arthur, TX, Russell Sampson of Port Arthur, TX; Grandchildren:  Eric Bowers Reeder, Jerrick Reeder, Alex Reeder, Sierra Reeder, Quadrick Reeder, Ashley Reeder, Cullen James Reeder, and his breath of life, Jaxson Rashad Lea.  Goddaughter, Portsha Jefferson of California; Godson, Alexander Reeder of Port Arthur, TX and a host of special nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be 4:30 p.m. Saturday, April 6, 2019 at Gabriel Funeral Home Chapel, 2500 Procter Street, Port Arthur, TX.
