Suspects charged after fleeing police

Beaumont police arrested a driver who fled from them and her passenger late Friday.

In an issued statement, police said they were patrolling in the 2300 block of Hebert when they saw a driver in a Chevy Tahoe commit several moving violations. When they attempted to stop her, she fled.

Police said Virginia Calhoun, 26, lost control of the vehicle near Sixth Street and Rusk and was captured. Her passengers, Jerrick Odell, 24, was captured after he fled on foot and hid under a vehicle on North Sixth.

Both suspects were placed under arrest and transported to Jefferson County Jail for evading arrest. Odell also was charged with credit card abuse.

No bond was set.
