A cold front making its way across the state will lead to rain and some cooler, breezy temperatures but no freeze is expected.

Seth Warthan, meteorologist with the National Weather Service-Lake Charles, said the front would come through between midnight and 6 a.m. Saturday. He said some of the storms may be strong but gusty wind will be the main issue.

Rainfall totals for the area are forecast to be between a quarter-of-an-inch to a half-inch.

“I’s not going to be a big rainmaker,” Warthan said, adding that they are not expecting any flooding with the system. “Then comes the cooler air. It will be the warmest when you step out the door on Saturday.”

The high for Saturday is around 61 with temps falling throughout the day. The low is set for 33.

“It will be close to freezing but we should stay above. Farther north around Jasper it will be dropping closer to 30, flirting with freezing,” he said.

Temperatures aren’t set to rebound quickly. Sunday’s high is forecast for around 52 with a low of 40 Sunday night.
