A Beaumont man killed in a head-on collision Thursday afternoon in Hardin County has been identified as Wesley Coe, 55, of Beaumont, the Department of Public Safety said in an issued statement.

Coe was the front-seat passenger in a southbound Chevrolet pickup truck on State Highway 326 when a northbound Dodge pickup crossed the highway and collided with the Chevrolet.

Justice of the Peace Jackie Werner pronounced Wesley Coe dead at the crash scene.

The driver of the Dodge, 50-year-old Michael McCaleb, of Kountze, remained hospitalized late Thursday.

The driver of the Chevrolet, Gary Coe, 69, of Beaumont, and his passenger, Matthew Wright, 39, of Silsbee, were both taken to St. Elizabeth hospital with serious injuries. They remained at the hospital Thursday night.

The three occupants of the Chevrolet were related to each other, DPS said.

This fatal crash remained under investigation, DPS said, and there were no additional details to be released.
