BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Titans come up short in opener

Published 2:59 pm Saturday, November 10, 2018

Reigining UIL 5A state champion Memorial opened the boys basketball season Saturday testing itself against another state championship team, and it wasn’t Silsbee.

That meeting will come in Port Arthur next Saturday.

TAPPS 6A champion Tomball Concordia Lutheran, which went 43-1 last season, held off Memorial 69-62 at the Campbell Center in Aldine. The Titans are beginning the season with a two-game swing in the Houston area before opening the home slate against UIL 4A champ Silsbee the day after Memorial’s home playoff game against Richmond Foster.
