The two are accused in the murder of Olajuwon Vaughns, 23, of Beaumont, who was found dead at an apartment complex at 3190 Eastex. Police responded to a call there at around 1 p.m. July 24.

In a probable cause affidavit, detective Sgt. Jesus Tamayo said the victim died from a gunshot wound to the upper body. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.

Detectives learned that the suspects fled the scene in a white 2003 Yukon, which was seen traveling north on Highway 69 in Kountze. There, they were seen discarding evidence from the murder scene, the affidavit said.

A witness ID’d Clevenger from a gas station video.

The investigation involved collaboration by multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office; Alexandria, Louisiana police; and the U.S. Marshal’s Office.

The juvenile was booked at the Minnie Rogers Juvenile Detention Center in Beaumont, charged with murder.

Clevenger’s bond at the Jefferson County Corrections Center was set at $1 million.
