August 14, 1937 – August 24, 2017

Wilson (JD) Jones took flight from this earthly realm en route to The Medical Center in Port Arthur.

JD was born to the late Hudson Sr and Lula Malone Jones in Plaisance, LA. He moved to Port Arthur after high school and was a long-time resident. On May 23, 1960, he married Ernestine Griffin. He worked for C.A. Turner, Universal Life Insurance, retired from Lamar State College-PA and owned and operated his own lawn care business. JD served as a deacon at Eastern Star Missionary Baptist Church.

JD was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ernestine; son, James “Theo”; eight sisters: Rose Anna, Cecilia, Gloria Jean, Lee Anna Everett, Eura Del McNeil, Sedonia Coleman, Irene Matthews and Clara Perry; and four brothers: JC, Hudson Jr, KC and Wesley Sr; God-son Luther Cole, Jr.

JD leaves to cherish his memory four children: Kirk (Debera) and Stephen “Lump” (Jennifer) of Port Arthur, Kimberly Hall (Tyron) of Allen, TX and Ernest (Felecia) of Crandall, TX; 20 grandchildren, including loving grand-daughter Keriel Jones (caregiver) of Port Arthur; 15 great grandchildren; sisters Lillie Cole of Port Arthur and Louise Broussard of Lake Charles, LA; sisters-in-law Elsie Jones of Lake Charles, LA, Loicy Jones of Port Arthur, and Susanna “Deecy” Jones of Texas City, TX; brother-in-law Curtis Everett of Port Arthur; God-son Theophilus Jones of Houston.

A visitation is scheduled for Saturday, September 16, 2017 from 9 am to 11 am. Funeral service at 11 am at Eastern Star Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Lloyd W. Scott officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Gabriel Funeral Home.
