Peggy Jeanne Childers Fecowycz, 70, of Montgomery, TX died March 1, 2017 at the VITAS Healthcare hospice facility   in The Woodlands,  Texas  after a ten-year battle with liver disease.

Peggy was the daughter of Bonnie and Segal Hall Childers of Orange, Texas,  who preceded her in death. She was the loving wife of George Fecowycz, Sr. for forty years before he  preceded  her in death. 

She  most recently spent her life with husband  Billie Whitt  of Montgomery, Texas who provided her with caregiving, laughter and selfless love for her last nine years of life.

She is survived  by  her son, George Fecowycz, Jr. and his wife Jennifer Rhone Fecowycz of Port Neches, Texas, and her daughter Michelle Fecowycz Meers and her husband Kyle J. Meers of Huntsville, Texas. She is also survived by her four grandchildren: William Fecowycz of Port Neches, Texas,  Segal  Fecowycz of Port  Neches, Texas, Amy K.  Fecowycz of Galveston,  Texas and  Hannah  Meers  of Huntsville,  Texas.   

She was the fourth youngest of ten children, and is survived by her brothers Bonnie Childers, John  Childers,  and  Glenn  Childers and  one sister, Mary Childers.

She has numerous nieces and nephews whom she adored and loved being “Aunt Peggy” to them and “Aunt Granny Peggy” to their children. She also leaves five adult stepchildren and numerous step-grandchildren through her marriage with Billie Whitt.

Peggy retired from the US Postal Service in 2006, but also had careers with Tupperware and in office administration for years. Peggy loved being “Granny” to her grandchildren and loved opening her home for others as a place of hospitality and was known as a phenomenal cook and hostess. Her Christian faith was extremely important to her, and she was an active member at Nederland Ave. Church of Christ for years and at Park Central Church of Christ as her health permitted. Through church, “Miss Peggy” loved on children through the years and enjoyed teaching them about Jesus as a former bible school teacher. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

A life celebration service will be held Saturday, April 1, 2017 at 11am at Nederland Avenue Church of Christ.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Liver Foundation or to VITAS Community Connection.
