Somebody got lucky Wednesday night

But who?

Wednesday evening, the Texas Lottery Commission called the Mega Millions numbers and those numbers, 20, 33, 45, 58 and 69, matched exactly a ticket that was sold at the Shell gas station on Memorial and 25th Street.

It was the only ticket to match all five numbers, though

However, Stephanie Bui, manager, said she didn’t know who bought the ticket and by Thursday morning, she’d not heard if the winner had even claimed the ticket.

“Not that we know of,” she said.

This is the biggest win of any lottery ticket sold at the location, though Bui said there have been other big payouts from tickets sold there.

“We sold a Jackpot winner a years back that was $275,000,” she said.

She said it’s exciting knowing the winning ticket was sold at her store, and she added that she hopes her store is lucky.

“We hope whenever we sell a ticket it’s a winner,” she said.

Though some people prefer to claim prizes anonymously and without the limelight, there are times when $1 million prizes go unclaimed. At present, at the state lottery’s website, the commission has a press release about an unclaimed $1 million Powerball ticket. That ticket was sold in September in Odessa and the deadline to claim the prize is Monday.

However, assuming the Shell ticket is claimed, Bui said she wished the person well.

“We want to congratulate whoever the winner is,” she said.
