Suspects in fatal shooting await extradition

Two men from Orange who have been arrested for the shooting death of a Port Arthur man now await extradition to Jefferson County.

Antonio Richard and Iterreious Simien are charged with the Dec. 29 shooting death of Rasheed Edwards.

Edwards, 29, of Port Arthur was shot to death in the parking lot of Baymont Inn & Suites, 3801 Texas 73.

Antonio Richard, of Orange, was arrested in connection with the murder on Jan. 9 in Oakdale, La. with the assistance of the Allen Parish Sheriff’s Office, according to LaRisa Carpenter, public information officer for the City of Port Arthur.

Richard will be held without bond, according to an employee at the Jefferson County Correctional Facility.

The second suspect, Iterreious Simien, of Orange, was arrested on a warrant for murder in Orange on Sunday. He was taken into custody without incident. Simien’s bond is set at $500,000.

Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputy Marcus McLellan said the suspects will need to be extradited to Jefferson County following arraignment.

No further information has been released regarding the suspects.

Port Arthur police got the call of shots fired around 9 p.m. Dec. 29 at Baymont Inn & Suites. Police located Edwards, 29, deceased from a gunshot wound in the hotel parking lot.
