A Jefferson County grand jury indicted four Nederland men on charges of graffiti at two Nederland schools.

Jim Alejandre, 18, Armando Ortiz, 18, Marco Garza, 19, and Cristian Molina, 19, were indicted for incidents that allegedly happened in August 2016.

According to the affidavit for arrest there was a report of people spray painting at the high school on North 18^th Street in Nederland. The person making the report said he shined a light on the men and they ran and got into a SUV. A police sergeant stopped the vehicle and found a red spray paint and crushed raw egg inside along with the four men.

That’s when police found out that there were several buildings spray painted behind the high school.

Several hours later police learned that a 2016 Chevrolet Impala, which the school rented from Enterprise Rental and parked behind the high school, had been spray painted with red paint.

About an hour afterward a Nederland Independent School District maintenance supervisor reported that someone spray painted buildings at Central Middle School, in the 200 block of North 17^th Street.

A day later there were three more reports about red spray paint to two different vehicles and a trailer in Nederland, according to the affidavit.

The graffiti charges are a state jail felony.

An indictment is not a final conviction of guilt; it is only a ruling by the grand jury that allows the district attorney’s office to proceed with a criminal case.
