A fight between a man and woman with a group of people in an apartment complex parking lot led to a shooting Thursday night.

Port Arthur Police were called to Villa Main Apartment complex, 901 Main Ave., at 10:55 p.m. Dec. 8 regarding shots fired, according to a press release from the police department.

During the fight a man pointed a handgun at another man and shot the man’s vehicle numerous times as he tried to leave.

While trying to leave, the man struck several parked vehicles in the parking lot.

Port Arthur Police then received a call about a gunshot victim in the 1900 block of Green Avenue.

The victim received a glancing gunshot wound to his upper chest and was sent to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont for treatment of minor injuries.

The gunshot victim told police he had been at Villa Main Apartment complex when he was shot but could not give many details of what took place.

PAPD’s ID Division processed the crime scene and the incident remains under investigation.
