Melba Elaine Philyaw Mosby, 90, of Port Arthur, Texas passed away Monday, December 5, 2016.

Melba was born October 19, 1926 in Port Arthur, Texas to James Lee Philyaw, Sr. and Ethel Crabtree Philyaw. She was a lifelong area resident and retired bookkeeper.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Thomas Ussery and Hubert Mosby; granddaughters, Brandi Hartford and Lindsey Wactor; grandson, Thomas Beard; one sister and two brothers.

Survivors include her children, Yvonne Kappus and her husband Ron of California, Carolyn Snider and her husband Oscar of Vidor, Thomas Ussery of Orange, and Jacqueline Ussery of Orange; grandchildren, Kimberely Kappus, Shanna Thompson, Michael Kappus, Crystal Mai, Ashley Wactor, and Thomas Ussery, Jr.; and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, December 9, 2016 at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves. Burial to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday evening from 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
