Jamaal Charles may have to wait until Week 17 to play another NFL game.

The 2005 Port Arthur Memorial graduate has been placed on injured reserve, NFL Network reported citing a source Tuesday. Charles missed Sunday’s 30-14 win at the Indianapolis Colts, and the severity of his injury remains unclear, according to NFL.com.

Charles made his season debut Oct. 2 at Pittsburgh and carried twice for 7 yards. It was his first game since a season-ending ACL tear against the Chicago Bears in Week 5 of the 2015 season.

Charles ran nine times for 33 yards at Oakland following a bye week and had one carry for no yards at home against New Orleans on Oct. 23, but has not played since. If he is placed on IR, he will not be eligible to return until Jan. 1 against the San Diego Chargers in the teams’ regular-season finale.

Kansas City coach Andy Reid said Charles would seek an opinion from well-noted Alabama surgeon Dr. James Andrews on his knee.

Meanwhile, NFL.com reported, the Chiefs signed former Tennessee running back Bishop Sankey. The Chiefs also have Spencer Ware under concussion protocol, but former Abilene Christian standout Charcandrick West rushed for 52 yards at Indianapolis.
