PORT NECHES — Sam and Dortha Lisenby were picking up medication at Walmart when they received a call that a car had crashed into their home in the 2800 block of Eighth Street in Port Neches on Wednesday.

The Jeep Compass, driven by an 18-year-old female with two male passengers, struck a culvert, drove across a nearby yard, hit a driveway, flipped end-over-end then continued on through the side of the Lisenby home’s garage at about 11:40 a.m.

Port Neches Police Chief said there were no injuries and driver was possibly impaired. She has been charged with driving while intoxicated.

More than a block of Eighth Street was cordoned off for emergency vehicles and Entergy was called in to take care of a live wire that was damaged during the wreck. The couple is left without power at this time.

Neighbors stood in their yards talking with each other and on their cell phones and watched the event unfold.

“A neighbor and my son called and told us,” Dortha Lisenby said while standing in her yard watching a tow truck work to remove the Jeep.

Philip Lisenby, the couple’s son, was also on scene.

“I stopped by Firehouse Subs and brought some here about 10 minutes before this,” Philip Lisenby said.

First responders from Port Neches and Nederland assisted in the wreck.
