Mrs. Erna Mae Jones, of Port Arthur, Texas passed away Thursday, August 6, 2015 peacefully at her home surrounded by family. Erna Mae was born on October 19, 1927 in Port Arthur, Texas to the late Norris Coleman and Katherine Phillips.
Erna is preceded in death by her mother Katherine Phillips-Benjamin, father Norris Coleman, husband William Jones Sr., and daughter Sharon Jones.
She is survived by her daughter Gwendolyn Sims (Rudy) Spartanburg, South Carolina; sons William Jr. (Doris), Calvin (Shamarion), Jonathan (Lisa) all of Houston, Texas, Patrick (Shirley) Port Arthur, Texas, Clint (Cheraw) Spartanburg, South Carolina. Twelve Grandchildren and Sixteen Great-grandchildren.
Erna was an excellent cook; she loved good food and socializing with her long time church circle. She enjoyed bowling with her friends and visiting her children. Erna had a wonderful smile that could light up a room.
Visitation will be held on August 15, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Funeral service is 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 821 Freeman Ave., Port Arthur, Texas. Rev. David Daviss officiating. Burial will follow in Live Oak Cemetery under the direction of Gabriel Funeral Home.
