Filing for Nov. 3 elections begins

Filing for a spot in the Nov. 3 city and school election ballots starts Monday, July 27, and ends Aug. 24.
In Groves, two seats are up this election cycle including Ward 1 and Ward 3.
The Ward 1 seat is currently held by Jim Rasa, and the Ward 3 seat is held by Sidney Badon. Both councilmembers said they will file for re-election.
For those who want to file for a seat, applications can be obtained from the city clerk’s office at 3947 Lincoln Ave., Monday – Friday between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Filing fee is $25.
Two seats on Port Neches City Council are up for grabs this election season, that of the mayor and the Place 4 seat. Terms are for three years.
Port Neches Mayor Glenn Johnson announced back in June that he will run for re-election. The Place 4 seat is held by Robert Arnold.

Three seats on the Port Neches-Groves Independent School District board are up this election cycle.
They include the Place 1 seat currently held by board President Jim Walters, the Place 2 seat held by board Vice President Lana Parker and the Place 3 seat held by board secretary Eric Sullivan. Parker said she will run for re-election.
Applications for a place on the ballot for the PN-GISD school board are available from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday beginning Monday and ending at 5 p.m. Aug. 24 at the administration building, 620 Ave. C, Port Neches.
