Nederland’s Bruce Kilchrist named top assistant coach

NEDERLAND — Eight assistant basketball coaches were recently named Boys Assistant Coach of the Year by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches.
The association’s awards are nominated by Texas high school basketball coaches and voted on by regional coordinators and committees.
All awards were announced between the Boys State Basketball Tournament and the end of school.
Nederland High School assistant boys basketball coach Bruce Kilchrist was named 2024 Texas Association of Basketball Coaches Boys Basketball Assistant Coach of the Year for District 5A Basketball.
This year, Kilchrist’s junior varsity team went 14-0 in district play.
