LETTER TO THE EDITOR — Say “no” to petition to extend Port Arthur term limits

Just say “NO” to a new petition to put a ballot before the voters to amend the City Charter on term limits.

The revision would increase the terms limits of the mayor and the City Council from two three-year terms to three three-year terms.

There has been no need, reason or rational sighted for this proposed change.

All you have to do is look at Washington D.C., to determine that this is a bad idea.

Congress has now become loaded with career politicians, who grow old in their seats, fight among themselves, tax and spend.

Career politicians have a way of stalemating the government.

Want to be really turned off by extended term limits, watch your City Council meetings on television.

There comes a time that new faces, thoughts and ideas come into play for the best interest of the city and the residents of Port Arthur. And, so it is with Port Arthur.

Vote “NO” on increased of term limits.
