Search for missing fisherman continues Thursday in Port Arthur

The search continues Thursday for the second of two males who fell into Sabine Lake on Pleasure Island Tuesday night.

Port Arthur Interim Fire Chief Interim Chief Antonio Mitchell confirmed the search started back up Thursday morning, adding crews are going to work all day to locate the male.

The first male victim was recovered in the area of North Levee Road on Pleasure Island at approximately 1 p.m. Wednesday.

An autopsy was ordered on the male, whose name and age have not been released.

Justice of the Peace Joseph Guillory II said the men were fishing in an area near Lakefront Pier on Pleasure Island when one of the men fell into the water.

The second male jumped in to save the other man.

Witnesses reported seeing the two males in the water, but the males did not reemerge Tuesday night.
