On April 17, PAPD announced the search for Nichols, saying he should be considered armed and dangerous, advising the public not to approach Nichols but to call and report his whereabouts to law enforcement.

Nichols was indicted Feb. 14 on three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

According to the probable cause affidavit, on Jan. 11, Port Arthur police responded to Last Call Liquor, 2301 Gulfway Drive, in relation to multiple shots fired.

A man wearing a red and white sweat suit allegedly ran after a gray Buick car firing shots. The owner of the Buick was located at Walmart on Memorial Boulevard, the document read.

The driver told police he was leaving the liquor store with his girlfriend in the front seat and their 7-month-old son in the back seat.

Officers located video that reportedly showed Nichols inside the store wearing the red and white sweat suit get upset with the victim when he saw him enter the store.

Nichols allegedly exited the store with another man and got into a silver SUV. The SUV drove around the block and stopped behind the store, where the passenger got out and walked up to the side of the liquor store.

The person waited for the victim to leave the store, get into his car and drive away before he ran after it and fired several shots at the car.

The person doing the shooting was wearing the same clothing as Nichols in the video.

Police found 11 .45 caliber shell casings where the gunman was seen shooting, the document read.
